Field Guide
Everything you need to deploy your first mission, and where to find the rest.
Thank you for your support and I hope you enjoy using RUHN :)
RUHN is a narrative running app. A digital intelligence named D.I.A.N.A. guides you through story missions while you run, and your effort level changes what she says. Walking is valid. Sprinting goes deeper. Both move you forward.
Headphones in. Got a Bluetooth heart rate strap (Polar, Garmin, Wahoo)? Pair it. It gives the most accurate effort tiers.
Open RUHN. Tap through the cold open, choose a callsign, and allow the permissions it asks for.
Tap DEPLOY and run outside. Your first mission is about 10 minutes. Setup before that takes roughly 2.
Get your rank. When the mission ends, D.I.A.N.A. reveals it. Always E on your first run.
Headphones and a BLE heart rate monitor (Polar, Garmin, Wahoo, COROS). Heart rate gives the most precise effort classification. No wearable? RUHN falls back to GPS pace. It works, just less precisely.
After onboarding you land on the Dashboard.

Your pace, or your heart rate on a treadmill, sets your tier. Each tier unlocks different D.I.A.N.A. dialogue.
9 story missions, 12 to 35 minutes each. D.I.A.N.A. adapts her dialogue to your effort. There's a 24 hour cooldown between story missions. To skip it, go to Settings › Debug › Unlock Next Mission.
Default thresholds work for most people. If tiers feel off (you're clearly running but it reads MID), calibrate: Settings › Calibration › Run Calibration. It's a guided 2 minute outdoor test: walk, jog, run, and sprint for 30 seconds each, and your thresholds compute from your actual pace.
Any standard BLE heart rate device works: Settings › Signal Monitor › Scan for Relays. On a treadmill, heart rate drives tier classification. Outdoors, GPS stays primary.
Open Settings › Route Planner. Tap the map to place waypoints; routes snap to roads. Red dots are traffic signals. Draw around them. Close the loop, then DEPLOY to start a run with D.I.A.N.A. turn by turn navigation.
Open the Protocol tab. Enter your mile time (or pick an estimate) and choose a distance: 5K, 10K, or Half. RUHN builds a weekly calendar you can deploy each session from.
After your first outdoor run, race a ghost of yourself.
Every mission has a SIM toggle for indoor testing without GPS.
Choose RUHN or your own: Spotify, Apple Music, anything. D.I.A.N.A. ducks it when she speaks; the speaker icon mutes.
Settings › Safety. A one-tap call button during runs.
Already on the list, no need to report these:
- Rank ceremonies above D-Rank (audio not rendered yet)
- Curated music mode (waiting on a MusicKit token)
- Some UI polish on smaller screens
Anything that crashes, confuses, looks wrong, or doesn't feel right. Screenshots and screen recordings help a lot.
Send feedbackRunning isn't exercise in RUHN. It's access. Your movement generates a signal D.I.A.N.A. reads. The Current is the layer beneath physical movement. You're a Hunter. Different effort produces a different signal. Walking gets you there. Sprinting gets you deeper.
